Workshops and seminars

Tailored workshops

What are tailored workshops?

Tailored workshops are developed in partnership with you and designed specifically to meet your needs. They explore topics chosen as being particularly relevant to your individual consortium and help you plan your way forward. Workshops are led by an expert who will introduce tools and other materials to help you work together to develop a shared understanding of topics, to audit current provision and work towards solutions.

How do they work?

Workshops could be based on topics for which the Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL)/NCSL programme has already developed resources, with the aims and objectives and activities tailored to meet your specific requirements. An example of a successful workshop of this type is Collaborative quality assurance of teaching and learning. CEL/NCSL has a resource pack which can be adapted to the individual circumstances and the priorities of your consortium.

Workshops available now that can be tailored to an individual consortium include the following:

Further workshops are being developed. For example, we are working on tools to help with workforce development planning. We also welcome suggestions for other themes.

How do I find out more?

Please discuss your needs with your consortium leader or email 14-19@ncsl.org.uk or 14-19@centreforexcellence.org.uk.

Regional seminars and workshops

What are regional seminars and workshops?

Regional seminars and workshops bring together leaders and managers from local authorities and others with strategic leadership roles in 14-19 diploma consortia to learn about the latest developments, consider particular themes, and share experience and knowledge.

How do they work?

From time to time, leadership development consultants (LDCs), working with Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) regional advisers and other partners, may identify particular themes or concerns which could form the basis of an event involving a number of consortia from a particular area.

How do I find out more?

Regional seminars and workshops will be publicised locally and on CEL/NCSL's website. Please discuss with your CLC any ideas you have on regional seminars and workshops and what might be available locally.

Support for communicating to your workforce about 14-19 reforms

What is this support?

These are briefing sessions to inform all staff about what the reforms will mean for young people across the consortium.

How does it work?

Consortia may wish to organise events which inform staff, not just leaders and managers or those directly involved in implementing diplomas, about the 14-19 reforms and the implications of them for young people and ways of working in the consortium. The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) is providing speakers for these events. Your CEL/NCSL consortium leadership consultant can help you clarify your particular needs and put you in touch with SSAT as required.
