SLICT - Celebrating Success Conference

The National College for School Leadership is holding the SLICT Conference - Celebrating Success, on Thursday 13 March 2008 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham.

The SLICT programme has now reached the home straight having well surpassed its target to reach 40 per cent of school leaders and the final programmes will have run before the conference commences. We would like to extend an invitation to all past participants to join us and share their experiences of the programme.

SLICT - Celebrating Success Conference

The purpose of the conference is to celebrate the successful completion of the SLICT programme and to inspire leaders in their leadership of ICT to continue to improve learning and teaching within their schools. It will ensure participants go away with a positive image of the SLICT programme, understanding the impact it has had on schools and school leaders.

Meeting the needs of learners in the 21st century

Technology can play a significant role in accelerating learning within the classroom.
This seminar looks at how the shift from delivery of content to the quality of experience can be enhanced through risk taking and innovative use of ICT.

Blackburn The Redeemer CoE Primary School
ICT contributing to learning in practice

It has been suggested that children involved in active learning are more likely to recall information where the responsibility to learn is placed on learners. See for yourself what this can look like in this interactive session led by a group of children.

Dave Broadfield and Ann Aston
Impact of technology on the nature of learning in school

There is evidence that ICT can help pupils to learn more independently and support teachers in planning a more personalised curriculum. However ICT does not make a difference by simply being used. Access to technology to support learning, when appropriate, needs to be planned and integrated into the school curriculum in order to provide a sustainable independent learning environment. This seminar considers how technology can impact on individuals and groups of learners within a school environment.

Andrew Stogdale
Making an interactive whiteboard

This seminar looks at how a teacher uses an interactive whiteboard (smartboard) in order to involve children. What are the children actually doing? It will provide practical examples and ideas for effective and creative use.
