Graduation information

Venue

Innovative and inspirational, the venue is purpose built and set in its own tranquil lakeside grounds. The venue provides extensive conference and meeting facilities, a lake side restaurant and bar as well as 90 comfortable, en-suite bedrooms.

Staffed by experienced event organisers it provides a truly relaxing environment which encourages learning and networking. This has proved to be the ideal place for our graduation ceremonies, acting as NCSL’s head office and flagship building.

The Graduation ceremony will take place at:

NCSL Learning and Conference Centre
Triumph Road
Nottingham
NG8 1DH

T: 0115 872 2171

Accommodation

Should you and your guests require accommodation either the night before or after your graduation ceremony this is available at the Learning and Conference Centre. Please book this direct with the LCC on 0115 872 2171.  Please inform reception that you are attending the graduation ceremony.

Alternatively, you can fill in the accomodation booking form Word document (160kb, 2 pages).

Dress code

The dress code in the Learning and Conference Centre is smart casual/collar, no jeans and trainers. Please note that this is a formal occasion: Graduands normally wear business dress and will be required to wear a robe at the ceremony.

Robing

For information about robing and photographs please visit the website www.wmnortham.co.uk or call 0870 240 1852. Please remember, you must book your robe and hat in advance and are requested to wear the academic dress for the award you are receiving, so do contact the robing company in plenty of time.

You will be asked for the following information on the website:

Car parking

Car parking is available on site free of charge. Please note that entrance to our carpark is via an intercom-controlled barrier.

Arrival and registration

On arrival please report to our main reception desk for registration where you will receive your official programme and seat number.

Robing and photography of all graduands will take place upon your arrival. We would therefore be grateful if you could arrive as promptly as possible, with reference to the time indicated on the agenda, to allow sufficient time for your photographs.

However, please note that there is no benefit in arriving earlier for your registration than indicated on your ceremony agenda , as the building and registration desk will not be open until this time.

Refreshments

Light refreshments – tea, coffee and soft drinks – will be available for graduands and guests on arrival. Robing, photography and the opportunity to mix with your fellow NCSL graduands means that you will be at the venue for some time. Please ensure you eat before you arrive, as you will then be busy until after the ceremony.

Ceremony

The presentations are scheduled to commence as indicated on your agenda, following the robing and official photography of all graduands. You and your guests are asked to take your seat prior to the ceremony as indicated on the agenda and by our staff.

Buffet reception

Immediately following the Ceremony you are invited to join dignitaries and members of staff from the NCSL, IAM and partner organisations for a drinks reception and buffet. It is anticipated that this will last approximately one hour.

Smoking

Please note that the NCSL Learning and Conference Centre is a non smoking building. This includes the ground floor conference and hospitality areas, the restaurant and bedrooms. Smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking area outside the building on the lakeside promenade.
