Message from your regional leaders

In the spring term, the Leadership Network will have a groundbreaking new series of events entitled Liberating leadership - not all leaders are teachers. If you have leaders in your school who are not teachers, or if you have school leaders who manage non-teaching staff then please encourage them to become members of the Leadership Network. We would be keen to welcome such leaders not just at our events, but also to ask them for their guidance on how the Leadership Network can best support their roles and schools.

We’d like to see school business managers, facilities managers, SENCOs, and leaders at all levels enrol with us to take advantage of the great opportunities open to them in the spring.

Find the contact details for the regional leaders in your local area.

New regional leaders

We would like to introduce our new regional leaders for the East of England:

You will have the opportunity to meet Wendy and Bob at our autumn events.

Leadership Network online

Central region members had the opportunity to take part in an online conference on 5 November on the topic 'Narrow the gap – raise the bar'. We will also be hosting a forum on this theme from 8–22 December. Registration details will shortly be available.

Partnership information

Every Child Matters (ECM) dissemination events - Raising the bar and narrowing the gap

Spring term 2009 sees two connected events in your region designed to help you lead, in partnership with others, increased and improved engagement with ECM, to achieve the aims of the Children’s Plan and deliver great results. We welcome leaders from both school and children’s centre settings and would recommend attendance at both events in order to maximise learning outcomes. Find out more and register.

Every Child Matters (ECM) advocates

If you are engaged in ECM in your school or local authority and would like to link with NCSL’s ECM advocates in your region, please contact:

School business manager (SBM) advocates

NCSL has appointed SBM advocates to operate within the nine government regions. Their remit is to raise awareness of the profession, promote avenues for career progression and demonstrate how the role improves school effectiveness. If you are an SBM and would like to link with other SBMs in your region, please contact:

We are still looking to appoint two advocates for the London and South East regions. If you are aware of SBMs in these areas that would be excellent candidates for this role, please email sbm@ncsl.org.uk.

Steering groups

Our regional leaders host steering groups that provide valuable support and input into the strategic planning of the region, operations planning for our events and activities, and guidance on initiatives. If you are interested in joining our steering group, or would simply like to find out more about the steering group in your region, then please contact your regional leader.

The dates for the next steering group meetings are:
