Greater Manchester Leadership Strategy

NCSL is responsible for the Leadership Strategy within City Challenge. NCSL will be working closely with partners including government departments, schools and local authorities and a range of key stakeholders, to supply a range of bespoke school support and leadership development opportunities.

Greater Manchester Challenge will be working within the following ten local authorities to achieve the programme objectives:

2. Bury
3. Manchester
4. Oldham
5. Rochdale
6. Salford
7. Stockport
8. Tameside
9. Trafford
10. Wigan

The Leadership Strategy in Greater Manchester will be delivered through a suite of tailored activities. These include:

• identification, training and deployment of Local Leaders of Education
• creation and maintenance of outstanding practitioner networks
• offer of tailored support to Keys2Success schools, in partnership with local authorities
• development of an integrated regional response to the succession planning challenge
• further extension of the National Leaders of Education and National Support School programme in Greater Manchester
• utilisation of the Families of Schools and other developing datasets, for the early identification and targeting of resource
• funding of area-specific, tailored leadership programmes
