News

The application rounds for CSBM (cohort 12) and DSBM (cohort 8) have now closed. The application round for ADSBM (pilot) has also now closed.

How to apply

The application round for the autumn 2008 intake (cohort 8) of the Diploma of School Business Management (DSBM) is now closed. If you have applied for cohort 8 you will receive an email from the training provider confirming the outcome of your application by the end of July. Further news of when the next application round (cohort 9) will be open will be published here shortly.

When applying for DSBM it is critical that you obtain the support of the headteacher and chair of governors at the school backing your application before you apply. We view this support as crucial to your success on DSBM and your application will not be viewed as complete until we receive it.

When completing your online application form, we will ask you to provide the name and email address of your headteacher and chair of governors so that we can ask them to provide an online reference to confirm that they have understood this commitment and wholly support your application.

The document below is for you to give them to ensure they are fully aware of the requirements of the programme.

External applicants

Individuals who are not already undertaking a school business manager role either based within a school or a local authority and are looking to enter the school business management profession are also able to apply for the DSBM programme.

However, application rounds are different for external applicants due to differing selection criteria and administration.

When completing the online application, external applicants are required to upload their CV which should include details of their professional background and future aspirations. You should also include in your document a covering letter with background and details of your plans for becoming a school business manager.

This information will help us to gauge how to assist you further in your application to the programme, and should not be considered an application in itself. Our external consultant will maintain a relationship with you, keeping you informed of progress and advise how and when to apply. Our external consultant will identify successful participants and feed back to the NCSL and programme providers.

Upon being awarded a place on DSBM via this initiative, participants will then be supported in finding a school, obtain guidance and attend a two-day induction workshop as an orientation and induction to working within the profession prior to starting the programme.
