Programme structure

The Multi Agency Team Development (MATD) programme takes place over six months and comprises:

• a principle engagement with the team's sponsor
• a pre-programme personality tool and half day consultant session
• 1 x 24 hour face-to-face event
• 3 x 1 day facilitator-led workshops

There is also the option of extra consultancy time between events to help with the project work. This should be discussed with your training providers.

Team sponsor

MATD is for teams who are supported and sponsored by a team sponsor. The sponsor is ideally a senior leader in a local authority or another setting who can engage with and nominate a viable team. It is possible that the sponsor is nominated by the multi-agency team themselves to enable them to commence the programme.

The sponsor can be drawn from a range of posts; a multi-agency team project manager, headteacher of an extended school, local authority children's services leader, or a leader of a multi-agency team within a community, for example.

The role of the sponsor is vital to:

• strategically position and support the team
• link the team's learning to develop new ways of working, leadership, culture and philosophy
• carry forward the project work into the wider community and support its sustainability
• sign off the team's involvement – although sponsors are not required to be part of the team
• champion the ethos of the programme
• drive the obtaining of funds for the team's participation
