Primary Capital Leadership Programme
The Primary Capital Programme (PCP) Leadership Programme recognises the importance of a partnership between local authorities and school leaders in creating and achieving a shared vision. Under remit of the DCSF, NCSL has drawn on the best knowledge and experience of PCP Pathfinder local authorities and leaders involved with primary capital investment to develop a range of provision to support school leaders and local authorities as they enter into PCP. This provision includes online materials and residential leadership programmes.
In 2008-09 we successfully piloted, evaluated and refined the PCP Leadership Programme.
The overall aims of the programme are to:
- enhance partnership working between local authorities and school leaders in creating and achieving a shared vision
- encourage engagement of all stakeholders in developing a shared vision for future learning environments, whilst offering tools and techniques to achieve this
- explore key global and national trends and innovations that will provide challenge, insights and new perspectives, to help stimulate genuinely new, visionary thinking
- explore the ways in which a new vision for learning can be defined and enhanced by innovative approaches to space, design, technology and pedagogy
- consider and plan for changes to meet the needs of primary learning communities, now and in the future, and provide techniques to help lead such changes
- help school leaders to understand the PCP process to enable them to play an active and informed part in this process
- assist school leaders to explore change management strategies to identify areas for development, building a team culture to drive forward change
