Programme structure

Being part of the Fast Track programme will give teachers significant scope and opportunity to build on their proven ability in the classroom. As part of the Wider School Focus project, they'll take on additional responsibilities which will focus on a specific improvement area and will also be encouraged to take on a variety of management roles. These may take a variety of forms including promotion, secondment and work placements. Fast Track teachers are also encouraged to gain experience in at least one challenging school which will also strengthen their application when coming to apply for a senior leadership post.

The Fast Track programme will support teachers for up to four to five years; however the majority will take up senior leadership roles within four. It is based around the following development opportunities and support structures:

All professional development activities are funded by NCSL, and teachers benefit from being part of a broader range of NCSL programmes offering further opportunities
