The new Head for the Future programme replaces the successful Leadership Programme for Serving Headteachers (LPSH).
Head for the Future has been designed collaboratively between NCSL and the Hay Group Consortium and retains many of the best features of LPSH:
Head for the Future also tackles emerging challenges for headship, particularly the need to collaborate with other schools and agencies. As different models of schools emerge, each with an individual ethos, a new set of challenges and demands are being placed upon their leaders. The new programme helps participants deal with this by challenging their perceptions about change and desired outcomes.
Head for the Future is a fast-paced programme with stimulating debate which demands both personal reflection and commitment to action. It will provide you with an honest assessment of your impact on others and will help shape your leadership for years to come. Because it focuses on how you help others to grow and take initiative, it is an investment in your school's capacity as well as your own. It supports you in sustaining the vision and clarity your staff need to enable them to step up.
Any headteacher with more than three years' experience is eligible to apply.
Programmes are recruited on a termly basis and you can view upcoming events on the dates and locations page.
There are limited places available on Head for the Future for 2008/09 and we advise interested headteachers to book early to avoid disappointment.
