What's new for autumn 2008: register for a Leadership Network event near you.
Congratulations to all those who have been successful in their application for Leadership for narrowing the gap. We are passionate about supporting you to narrow the gap in outcomes for children and young people. By narrowing the gap, we mean reducing the difference between outcomes for specific groups and those for all children and young people, against a background of improvement for all. The outcomes referred to are the five outcomes of Every Child Matters, which include attainment within Enjoy and Achieve (the third ECM outcome).
Leadership for narrowing the gap is a Leadership Network national initiative. The aims of the initiative are as follows.
Self-selected groups of between 8 and 12 leaders will be working on a nationally co-ordinated initiative facilitated and supported regionally.
Following the launch event at NCSL’s Learning and Conference Centre, we have included the following three tools to support you in your activity.
Leaders will carry out an initial self-assessment, explore the challenges for narrowing the gap in their context, and identify and work together on a single aspect of leading to narrow the gap. Throughout, there will be contact with and support from the Leadership Network. View the timeline to find out what is involved.
Participants will be committed to working with their groups and each group will send representatives to two events. A small amount of money is available to support the work of the group. Find out more about costs and commitments.
