Associates benefit from the opportunity to reflect on their own practice and explore that of colleagues in other organisations. Many report that their involvement has a rejuvinating effect and increases their appetite for leadership. In many instances involvement in the research has a direct impact on practice in the school as associates introduce new approaches based on the learning from their enquiry. Meanwhile the time they spend out of school provides space and opportunity for others to take a greater role in leading the school and so helps to build leadership capacity more broadly.
Involvement in the research associate programme also provides the opportunity for individuals to learn more about the College's work in general.
Many associates have also mentioned that their involvement in undertaking research has increased interest in enquiry based learning more broadly in the school, and encouraged others to complete research themselves.
