Please note, as part of a major programme of work we are improving our systems to provide a better experience for all our customers. Because of this you are temporarily unable to make a new application or update your personal details. Access to improved systems will be available from early September 2008, at which time these two services will be reinstated.
Headteachers with existing NCSL usernames have been pre-enrolled on the training and only need to log in above and access My learning to commence the Safer Recruitment online training. The training link appears in the left-hand navigation menu.
If you have forgotten your username or password, please follow the link at the top of this page.
If Safer Recruitment does not appear in your navigation menu in My learning, please apply using the headteacher online application form below.
Headteachers without an NCSL username will also need to apply for access to the training using the online registration form below.
If you are a headteacher from another country other than England, we have made the core of the Safer Recruitment online training available to you in the form of the public training. To access this, you do not need to register with NCSL. View the public training materials.
The Safer Recruitment online training is being made available nominated governors from each school in England free of charge. Once a governor has been identified and has agreed to undertake the training, the headteacher should complete the governor online application form, having obtained the necessary information from the nominated governor (this is given on the front of the form).
Teachers with existing NCSL usernames can request access by calling the NCSL help desk. The training link will then appear in the left-hand navigation menu after two to three days.
If you have forgotten your username or password, please follow the link at the top of this page.
Registered teachers without an NCSL username will need to apply for access to the training using the online registration form below.
If you are not a registered teacher, or are a teacher from another country other than England, we have made the core of the Safer Recruitment online training available to you in the form of the public training. To access this you do not need to register with NCSL.
Headteachers, and their nominated person where governors are not involved in the recruitment process, should apply in the usual way.
Two relevant staff members from each local authority will be given access to the training. These representatives also receive information on the take up of Safer Recruitment online training within their local authority.
To be added to our list of local authority representatives, a request should be made in writing by the director of children's services in your local authority to:
Peter O'Reilly
School
Workforce Group
Department for Children, Schools and Families
3C17 Sanctuary
Buildings
Great Smith Street
London, SW1P 3BT
Requests should include the name and email for any new representative and details of the representative who will need de-registering. These representatives will then be able to apply for the Safer Recruitment online training in the usual way.
If you are not a headteacher, registered teacher, governor or local authority representative, you can access the public training materials. You do not need to register with NCSL and no certificate will be issued on completion of the course. This is a valuable version of the training, which contains the core of the training, content and guidance. It is an excellent resource for other members of staff involved in recruitment and selection or in growing a safer school culture.
