November promises to be a really useful time to visit Tomorrow’s leaders today (TLT) with a whole range of tools and resources to support each of our four key audience groups - local authorities and partners, aspiring headteachers, current headteachers and governors - to find, develop and keep great headteachers and senior school leaders.

Resources continue to be really popular

As we enter the second year of the succession planning campaign, Tomorrow’s leaders today, all the resources continue to be well used with over 7,000 visitors to the TLT website last month.

New on the shelf is the succession planning toolkit for governors, helping them find, develop and keep good headteachers.

Leading the way with the Applying for headship - practical guides covering topics like:

  • financial expertise
  • securing accountability
  • your application and interview

The series of Evidence into Practice Guides are proving popular, with the following titles currently available:

The new interactive guide, Achieving equality and diversity in leadership, has been well received, providing easily accessible information on equality and diversity, and supporting schools, school leaders, governors and local authorities to strengthen and enhance their existing policies and practice.

One-stop Resources centre - If you want to get an overview of all the TLT resources, then visit the upgraded Resources centre; it makes for impressive viewing.

What is happening when?

  • Until 14 November - An online discussion, Internship inspires to aspire, with hosts Andy Brown and Paul Bramley, respectively an NCSL National Succession Consultant and NCSL Leadership Network Regional Leader. Both are involved with the Internship programme in the north east of England.
  • 14 to 28 November - An online discussion, Soft federation in action, with host Jo Williams, headteacher in a soft federation
  • Early November - Case studies from local authorities on their succession planning activities
