Funding for acting heads

If you are in the first three years of headship or are an acting head for a minimum period of one school term, put your development into focus and apply for your Early Headship Provision (EHP) leadership development grant today.

EHP allows first-time and acting headteachers to focus on the opportunities that will make a significant difference to their own leadership effectiveness.

The personalised and highly flexible nature of the provision means that participants are able to design their own learning pathway, incorporating a wide variety of learning methods and may use an equally wide range of training providers. These include leadership learning opportunities offered by local authorities, NCSL regional providers, some NCSL networks and events and independent training organisations.

For acting heads, once this period of headship has been completed, the provision may be frozen until another acting headship position or substantive headship is secured. The remaining grant will then be made available to use until it is used or the three years has elapsed.
