Talk to a head service

NCSL is piloting a service called Talk to a head, which will put NPQH graduates who want to become a head in touch with current heads.
The service comes as a result of feedback from NPQH graduates who aspire to headship, who told us that they would like to talk to a serving headteacher about the role, and feel that this would help them progress to headship.
Under the service, aspiring heads can talk to a current head by telephone for around 45 minutes, to discuss anything related to headship - from how the headteacher progressed to headship, what they enjoy about the role, or how to balance work and home life.
NCSL is looking for 30 headteachers - particularly those from primary and special schools - to respond to graduates who aspire to become heads.
If you are willing to spare 45 minutes to help an aspiring head, please register your interest for Talk to a head, and we will send you the details of an aspiring headteacher to contact. In the meantime, if you have any queries, please email beahead@ncsl.org.uk.
