NCSL has made the decision to close Developing the Capacity for Sustained Improvement and Working Together for Success. The application rounds closed on 31 May, therefore it is no longer possible to apply for these programmes. The final programmes will run from now until March 2010.
The College is constantly reviewing its provision to ensure that resources are most effectively allocated for the development of school leaders. Despite the programmes' significant impact on school leadership, the rapidly changing and complex context for senior leaders with new models of leadership and the need for greater flexibility means that a new approach to team development is required.
For senior leaders in secondary schools a new programme, Developing Senior Leadership Teams (DSLT), will be available from September 2009. NCSL is continuing to work with the profession to identify levels of demand and the most appropriate way of meeting the needs of senior leadership teams.
More information will be published here when it becomes available.
The primary aim of Working Together for Success (WTFS) is to build highly effective teams that will improve the working environment of schools and outcomes for staff, pupils and the school community. It enables members of the senior leadership team (SLT) to develop their team-working skills and behaviours so they can create and lead more effective teams within the school and across schools.
The programme focuses on team working analysis, team development and builds team processes for the senior leadership by:
By focusing action on an identified programme... the leadership team validates its own purpose for operating as a team.
